Beach Essentials: What to Pack for Your Ocean City, MD Vacation
Are you planning your family vacation to Ocean City, MD? We know, you’re excited to come to the beach, but before you rush out the door, make sure you pack everything you need to ensure a fun, safe, and most importantly, a STRESS-FREE beach vacation. Today, we came up with a quick list of items you should bring along for your OCMD vacation. Let’s dive right in!
Clothing Essentials
- Swimwear: We know you won’t forget a swimsuit when you’re coming to the beach, but make sure you bring a few along so you don’t have to put on a cold bathing suit after swimming the day before!
- Cover Ups: Bring a coverup to protect yourself from the sun, and for something easy to throw on if you need to make a quick trip to the store during your beach day.
- Flip Flops: When you’re at the beach, we believe you should be wearing flip flops wherever you go!
- Hats & Sunglasses: A hat and sunglasses can go a long way at the beach in protecting you from the sun. The sun is strong at the beach!
Beach Gear
- Beach Towels: You can’t pack enough beach towels! Believe us, you’ll probably use more than you think, so bring plenty along!
- Beach Chairs: A nice Tommy Bahama beach chair will make your beach day that much better.
- Umbrella or Beach Tent: An umbrella or beach tent will give you plenty of shade and protection from the sun, as well as a nice area for the little ones to play in the sand!
- Cooler: Because who wants a drink that’s warm?? Load that cooler up with ice and enjoy ice cold refreshments all day!
- Beach Toys: Bring some boogie boards, sandcastle molds, a shovel and a few beach buckets and your kids will have a blast at the beach!
Bedding, Kitchen, & Bathroom Supplies
It’s important to remember that most summer rentals in Ocean City, MD do not provide linens, soaps, or things of that nature to their guests. While there are some owners that provide these items, the vast majority do not. Don’t forget these items when you come on your beach vacation to OCMD!
- Linens: Double check with your awesome local Ocean City, MD vacation rental company to see if your unit provides linens. If they do not, bring along sheets and towels with you.
- Toilet Paper: You don’t want to forget this! Pro-Tip: pack on the top of your suitcase for easy access when you arrive!
- Trash Bags: While some rentals may have extras, it can’t hurt to bring a few along just in case.
- Soap & Detergent: Don’t forget to bring hand soap, body wash, shampoo, face wash, so on and so forth. You’ll also want to pack dish soap/dishwasher pods and laundry detergent/pods just in case you need them!

Sunsations: Sunsations is a great place to get your beach essentials such as sunscreen, beach towels, chairs, boogie boards, and pretty much anything else you could need at the beach. You can also get some OCMD merchandise when you stop by.
TJ Maxx (North OC): If you forgot any of your beach essentials and are staying in north Ocean City, you can head to TJ Maxx!
