Experience Winter Activities in Ocean City MD

Who wants to come to the beach in the winter? Is there anything to do in OC in the winter?

To be honest, we hear these questions more than we care to admit, and it surprises us. Mostly because the opposite is true. The beach is a great place to be during the winter months & there are plenty of Winter Activities in Ocean City, MD!

While many people may view Ocean City, Maryland, or any other beach town for that matter, as being “dead” in the wintertime, we’re here to bust that myth. We’ll concede that Ocean City may not have quite as much happening in the winter as we do in the summer… BUT it’s still a wonderful place to visit.

We have plenty of different winter activities that are great for those spending the holidays at the beach, or for those who simply want to visit OCMD for a quick off-season getaway!

Winter Events and Activities in Ocean City, MD

Convention Center Events

If you’re visiting Ocean City during the wintertime, or around the holiday season with your family, we have a few events for you to check out that we think you’ll love! Not only will these events make you full of holiday cheer, but they’ll be also a fun time for the whole family, creating some lasting memories for everyone involved.

If you’re going to be in Ocean City on November 21st make sure you check out Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer The Musical! This event is set to begin at 6:00PM at the OC Convention Center, and it’s bound to be a magnificent event for people of all ages.

Next up, we recommend A Charlie Brown Christmas Live On Stage on December 21st at 6:00PM! A few members of our staff take their families to this event every year and couldn’t have better things to say. Make sure you check it out and let us know what you think.

Need a beautiful place to stay that’s nearby? If you’re coming to the beach specifically for one of these events, or one of the other many events taking place at the Convention Center year round, check out some of our vacation rentals in Midtown Ocean City or at the Makai Condominiums (located next door to the Convention Center).

Winterfest of Lights

The Winterfest of Lights at Ocean City’s famous Northside Park is one of the most popular events that the Town of Ocean City hosts each year. Grab yourself some hot chocolate, head over to Northside Park, and enjoy the popular lights display!

The Winterfest of Lights will begin on November 21st with the lighting of the Christmas tree, which has become one of our favorite events to attend. We invite you to join us at Northside Park while we watch the Winterfest of Lights kick off!

Looking for a beautiful place to stay that’s close to Northside Park? Check out some of our vacation rentals in North Ocean City. We’re positive you’ll find something you like.

LOCALS TIP: If you have some extra PTO for this year, what better excuse to use it than to book a winter getaway? Our team at Central Reservations is ready to help! Ice Skating

Yes, you read that right. Ocean City has Ice Skating in the winter. If you didn’t already know, the Carousel building is well known to locals and vacationers, for hosting OC’s best (and only) indoor ice-rink. It’s another “hidden gem” we’re proud to share with you.

Ice Skating at the Carousel on 117th street is a great activity if you’re coming to OC during the winter. It’s good fun for any size group of family or friends! Not only do they have the ice-skating rink, but they also have concessions available to help fuel you up after burning those calories.

Meaning, whether it’s cold, windy, rainy, or just unpleasant outside; the weather inside the Carousel is always perfect for skating (and a cup of hot chocolate).

New Year’s Eve in Ocean City

If you don’t already have plans for New Year’s Eve, we highly suggest you consider coming to the beach! It’s a great time, and a great change-of-pace for anyone looking to get away from the big crowds.

Not sure where to go? Check out Fagers Island or Seacrets, both of whom host some amazing New-Years events, along with countless other local establishments. Big, small, and somewhere in-between, there’s going to be a place (and a party) for you!

Best of all, the Town of Ocean City hosts a fireworks display at Northside Park beginning at 6:00PM. And who doesn’t love a good fireworks display?

Simply put, New Years at the beach is something everyone should try at least one time.

A Few Great “Date” Ideas

Coming to Ocean City, MD with your significant other during the winter can be a relaxing retreat you didn’t know you needed.

Here are a few date ideas for you and that special someone:

Catch a movie in North OC at the Fox Movie Theatre in the Gold Coast Mall, or Flagship Cinemas in West Ocean City!  Why is this different than at home? Because you’re not “at home”!

Play some Mini Golf at one of Old Pro Mini Golf’s indoor mini-golf courses on 68th Street and 136th Street! Again, you’re at the beach, you’re away from home, work, and the chaos. Unwind and enjoy some ‘you-time.’

Head on over to Windmill Creek Vineyard and Winery in Ocean Pines and partake in their igloo dining experience! This is a “Must Do” if you haven’t already. What a quaint, intimate, and surprisingly fun experience to share with someone. *But be warned, they book quickly, so make reservations ahead of time. *
