Great Golf Courses to Play During Your OCMD Vacation
If you haven’t realized it already, Ocean City, MD has TONS of activities for you to do while you are on your annual summer beach vacation. We’re not only known for our awesome beaches, food, and entertainment, we also have some awesome golf courses close to the beach! All of the courses we’re going to mention today are within driving distance of the beach (within an hour or so, or much closer depending on where you’re staying). So, you can get a morning tee-time, hit the links, and still make it back to catch some sun on the beach. Without further ado, here are 4 of our favorite golf courses in OCMD!
Lighthouse Sound
Lighthouse Sound is probably the most well-known golf course on the eastern shore… for good reason. The course is always perfectly manicured, has breathtaking views of Ocean City, MD on holes 5 & 6, greens that roll true, and a wonderful staff.
After you’ve finished your round of golf, you can also have a wonderful sit-down dinner at their on-site restaurant! Their menu features steaks, Maryland seafood, and so much more. Even if you’re not playing golf at lighthouse sound, this is a restaurant that’s worth checking out!
If you’re staying near midtown or uptown Ocean City, MD, you can be at lighthouse sound in about 30 minutes (or even less).
Glen Riddle
Located just a few miles over the rt. 50 bridge on your way out of OCMD is Glen Riddle Golf Club. Glen Riddle features 2 courses, War Admiral and Man O War. Both courses have their own challenges but have a completely different layout. The Man O War course is more of a links style course, meaning it is a bit more open with less trees. War Admiral was designed by famous golf professional Jim Furyk and features a different style of course with more tree cover and hazards.
They also have a Ruth’s Chris steakhouse attached to the pro-shop! If you’re craving a drink after your round, or even want to come for a sit-down dinner with the family, this is a great place to do just that!
If you’re thinking the names War Admiral and Man O War sound familiar, you’re probably right. These two names are shared with the famous racehorses that were raised in the horse barn that is now the pro-shop and Ruth’s Chris steakhouse! To learn more about the history of this course, click here!
If you’re staying in Downtown or the lower part of Midtown OCMD for your summer vacation, Glen Riddle is only 10-20 minutes away!
Rum Pointe
Next on our list is Rum Pointe Seaside Golf Links. If you’re looking for a fair, fun, and challenging round of golf, Rum Pointe is for you. From tee to green, Rum pointe is always picturesque and in wonderful condition. This course was designed by famous golf course architect, P.B. Dye. Every hole presents a different challenge, and each one is unique.
Rum Pointe is located right on the Assawoman Bay with beautiful waterfront views on holes 8, 16, and 17, although you can feel the bay breeze and see the water from other holes as well. This wonderful Golf Course is just a stone’s throw away from local’s favorite, Assateague Crab House. After your round, enjoy food and drinks while soaking in the beauty of the 9th and 18th holes on their large balcony.
If you’re staying in Downtown or the lower part of Midtown OCMD, Rum Pointe is only about 20-30 minutes away!
Eagles Landing
Last, but certainly not least on our list of best golf courses in Ocean City, MD is Eagles Landing. Eagles Landing is a favorite among locals and vacationers alike and is known for its picturesque holes that incorporate the nature around them. Eagles landing is known for preserving the natural beauty of the nature around it, while also providing high quality and challenging, yet fun golf.
Eagles Landing is also a known spot for charity golf tournaments and other golf outings. If you’re planning your next annual golf outing, be sure you give them a call. They have a large café that seats up to 130 people, making it perfect for a large event.
