Why This FAQ Exists

We get the same questions every week. When does my payment come due? What if I pull in after 5 PM? Are sheets included? Is there a grocery store near my condo? Most of these answers live scattered across a rental agreement, a confirmation email, and a late-night Google search. This guide puts them in one place.

We’ve been managing vacation rentals in Ocean City, Maryland since 1978. Today the Central Reservations team oversees roughly 400 properties across Downtown, Midtown, and North OC. Our local staff answers these exact questions dozens of times a day, in person at our 6200 Coastal Highway office and by phone at (410) 723-4111. Below are the clear, straight-from-the-source answers.

Payments, Cancellations, and Deposits

When is my payment for my vacation due with central reservations in OCMD? What's their cancellation policy

How do payments and cancellations work on an Ocean City vacation rental? Final payment is due 30 days before arrival. Our Worry-Free 14-Day Cancellation gives a full refund when cancelling 14+ days out.

When is my final payment due?

Final payment is due 30 days before your scheduled arrival date. If you book inside that 30-day window, full payment is collected at the time of booking. Personal and electronic checks must be received 30 days before arrival.

What is Central Reservations’ cancellation policy?

Our Worry-Free 14-Day Cancellation works in three tiers:

  • 14+ days before arrival: Full refund
  • 7 to 13 days before arrival: 50% refund (full refund if the property is re-booked)
  • 0 to 6 days before arrival: No refund unless the property is re-booked

Travel insurance can be added at the time of booking for extra protection. For full details, see our Policies and Procedures.

What’s the difference between a damage deposit and a security deposit?

You choose one at the time of booking. The non-refundable $89 Damage Deposit covers accidental damage up to $2,500, so there’s nothing to wait on after checkout. The refundable Security Deposit is held until inspection and returned within 30 days of checkout, minus any costs for damage or excessive cleaning. Most guests prefer the $89 option for simplicity.

Is there a credit card surcharge?

Yes. Central Reservations applies a 3.0% surcharge on credit card payments, which is not greater than our cost of card acceptance. Debit card payments do not carry a surcharge. You can also pay by personal check, electronic check, or certified funds to avoid the fee entirely.

Check-In and Check-Out

Central Reservations OCMD Check in and out policies

How does check-in work at Central Reservations? Check-in is at our 6200 Coastal Highway office between 3 and 5 PM. After-hours arrivals call (410) 723-4111 for instructions. Checkout is 10 AM with a short chore list.

Where do I check in?

Most of our Check-in is at the Central Reservations office at 6200 Coastal Highway, Suite 100 between 3 PM and 5 PM on your scheduled arrival day. We’re in the heart of Midtown on 62nd Street. Stays at the Gateway Grand or the Makai have their own check-in procedures. If you have a question about where you’re checking in, simply call our office at (410) 723-4111.

What happens if I arrive after 5 PM?

If you’ll arrive after 5 PM or when our office is closed, call us at (410) 723-4111 before you hit the road. We’ll give you after-hours check-in instructions so you can get into your rental smoothly. Please don’t show up to your property without receiving your check-in instructions from us to ensure things go smoothly.

What time is checkout?

Checkout is 10 AM on your scheduled departure day. This is a firm time because oftentimes the next guest arrives that same afternoon and the cleaning crew has a tight window. Late checkouts are not available except in rare pre-approved cases. Keys, pool tags, and parking permits must be returned to our office by 10 AM.

What am I responsible for at checkout?

Before you leave, we ask that guests clean and put away dishes, empty the refrigerator, return furniture to its original placement, take trash to the building receptacles, and lock all doors and windows. Simply put, just leave the property the way you found it!

Can I store my car at the property until later in the day?

No. Your parking permit is valid until 10 AM on checkout day, not later. Most buildings strictly enforce this because the next guest’s parking spot is the same space. If you need to stay in town after checkout, park in a public lot.

Are linens and towels included?

Linens and towels are not included by default, but they’re simple to add. You can add a linen package at booking, add one later through your guest portal, or call us at (410) 723-4111. We work with A to Z Rental Service for linen rentals. Many guests prefer to bring their own to save!

Do rentals include WiFi and parking?

Yes. WiFi and at least one parking space are standard at Central Reservations properties. Larger units may include multiple spaces. The exact number of parking spaces is listed on your lodging agreement. Oversized vehicles (extended trucks, trailers) may not fit in building lots, so call us first if you’re bringing one.

Most of our rentals do not allow pets. We have a small number of pet-friendly properties, and pet fees and policies vary by unit. If you’d like to bring your pet, call us at (410) 723-4111 before booking so we can match you with the right property.

What is the occupancy limit?

Occupancy limits are set per property and listed on your lodging agreement. Limits include children and overnight guests. Please choose a property that comfortably fits everyone in your group. If you need help matching group size to property, our team can help filter by bedrooms and maximum occupancy for you.

Are grills allowed on the balcony?

No. Grilling is prohibited on the deck or balcony of any multi-family building in Ocean City. This is an Ocean City fire code rule, not just ours. Some buildings have shared grilling areas near the pool or common space.

Ocean City Beach Patrol lifeguards are on duty 10 AM to 5:30 PM, seven days a week, from Memorial Day weekend through the third Sunday after Labor Day.
