Travel Tips for Oceans Calling
Pro Tips for a Smooth Festival Experience:
- Beat the traffic: Ocean City handles big events well in terms of traffic and has hosted this event before. Traffic seems to improve each year, but with thousands flocking to the Boardwalk, give yourself extra time to arrive, especially on Friday afternoon.
- Stay close to the action: Search for downtown OC rentals at centraloc.com & try to book a rental that’s as far south as you can. Options are certainly limited, so you may have to settle for something in North OC if you haven’t secured your rental already.
- Pack for the weather: Late September in Ocean City can bring sunny days, cool nights, or a surprise shower. A lightweight rain poncho and layers are your best friends.
Festival Hacks from Ocean City Locals
We’ve been to our share of Boardwalk festivals, and we’ve got the inside scoop to make your Oceans Calling experience epic:
Go for VIP or GA+ passes: These upgraded tickets offer perks like exclusive viewing areas, shorter lines at bars, and even complimentary snacks or drinks in some cases. Perfect for a more relaxed festival vibe.
Venture outside the festival grounds for a snack: Some of the restaurants & bars inside the festival grounds can get extremely busy. If you need a break for lunch/dinner while you’re at the festival, it’s worth considering leaving the grounds to go somewhere on the boardwalk a bit further north. In years past, they allow re-admission, so you won’t have any problems getting back in!
Bring a reusable water bottle: Stay hydrated with free water refill stations on-site but check the festival’s bag policy for allowed items.
