Quick Answer:

Where are the best places to eat in Ocean City, MD? Ocean City has more than 200 restaurants, and the best one for you depends entirely on where you’re staying and what kind of meal you want. Downtown leans casual and boardwalk-classic with some destination spots like Spain Wine Bar and Harrison’s Harbor Watch. Why Take Restaurant Advice From a Vacation Rental Company?

Ocean city md dining recommendations

Fair question. Here’s our answer.

Our team at Central Reservations has been a part of Ocean City since 1978. Our office on Coastal Highway is located in the heart of Ocean City, allowing us to keep our finger on the pulse of everything around us. Our point? We’re local, we live here, we work here, and we eat here every day. Every restaurant recommended on this list is somewhere we frequent, because it’s just that good.

We manage roughly 400 vacation rentals spread throughout Ocean City and check in nearly 9,000 guests every year. That means we get feedback directly from thousands of guests every year about which places they loved and which ones they didn’t.

The restaurants below are the ones that consistently earn the right to be recommended, and we’ll tell you which type of meal each is best for so you can match the place to the moment.

A quick note on what this list is not: it isn’t a ranking, and it doesn’t name every restaurant we like. There are some great restaurants in Ocean City that didn’t make this guide. If you’d like to take a deeper dive with some local foodies, check out some of our past posts on breakfast, lunch, seafood, fine dining, family-friendly spots, boardwalk dining, and bayside dining.

Downtown Ocean City Restaurants (Inlet–27th Street)

Downtown Ocean City MD restaurants

Quick take: Downtown is the most walkable dining zone in OC. If you’re staying near the boardwalk, you can hit a different restaurant every night without moving your car. Expect everything from boardwalk classics to genuinely upscale destination dining.

  • Spain Wine Bar — Date night. Tapas, an excellent wine list, and bay views from a converted boatyard space. Make a reservation at least two weeks out in summer.
  • Harrison’s Harbor Watch — Local’s favorite. Right at the Inlet with sweeping views of the ocean, bay, and Assateague. A 40+ year OC institution.
  • Captain’s Table — Special occassion. Inside the Courtyard Marriott on 15th Street. Quietly one of the most consistent meals in town.
  • The Wedge — Casual with a view. Inlet location, craft cocktails and street tacos. Great spot for a casual dinner with a view.
  • Coastal Salt — Newer addition. Right on the boardwalk, elevated seafood, views, and outdoor seating. The crab cakes with Chesapeake aioli are worth the trip.
  • De Lazy Lizard — Family-friendly. Bayfront on 1st Street, sandy play area for kids, tropical drinks for parents. A great post-boardwalk dinner.
  • Oyster & Scales — Special occasion. Opened August 2025 and already a destination. Upscale, seafood-focused, sophisticated atmosphere.
  • Dough Roller — Boardwalk classic. Pizza, breakfast, and pancakes. Has been an OC staple for decades and is a reliable stop with kids.
  • Layton’s — Breakfast. Family-owned, hearty portions, and a downtown locals’ tradition.

Midtown Ocean City Restaurants (28th–93rd Street)

Bayfront Dining in Ocean City at Fagers Island

Quick take: Midtown is where Ocean City keeps some of its biggest dining names. Seacrets and Fager’s Island are destinations in their own right, drawing diners from up and down the coast. The neighborhood feel is more relaxed than the boardwalk, and restaurant parking is generally easier here.

  • Seacrets — Day-drinking destination. Bay-front Jamaican-themed compound that’s been voted one of the best bars in the country, and the food is genuinely good. Lunch on the sand, a grouper sandwich, and a drink is an OC rite of passage.
  • Fager’s Island — Date night. Sunset views and one of the most consistent kitchens in town. Make a reservation!
  • The Hobbit — Special occasion. 81st Street bayside since 1977, now located in the Rivendell condominium. Stuffed Filet &  and Smoked Cheddar Pierogies are signatures.
  • Ropewalk — Family-friendly. 82nd Street bayside with a playground, sandy play zone, and select-night fireworks. Kids run around. Parents eat crab cakes.
  • Longboard Cafe — Slightly elevated casual dining. Burgers, tacos, fresh fish, and a menu that works for the whole table.
  • Bad Monkey — Casual breakfast or dinner. Local favorite with two locations (Midtown 58th and West OC). Pancakes through craft burgers, and a kids’ menu that actually works.
  • Barn 34 — Breakfast. 34th Street, generous servings, comfy atmosphere. The crab benedict is the order.

North Ocean City Restaurants (94th–146th Street)

North Ocean City MD dining
Quick take: North OC has a quieter dining scene with some of the best locals’ restaurants in town. Liquid Assets is one of the most respected kitchens on the entire shore. The pace is slower, the parking is easier, and you’ll find both upscale and unfussy options within a few blocks of each other.

  • Liquid Assets — Date night and special occasion. 94th Street bayside, no reservations, and a wine / cocktail menu that’s earned a real reputation. Charcuterie, Steak Frites, and the Shrimp Risotto are go-tos.
  • Vista Rooftop — Elevated cocktail bar with a view and a delicious food menu just south of Fenwick on 138th street.
  • Tailchasers — Family-friendly. Casual seafood and pub fare with a playground for the kids.
  • Lombardi’s — Locals’ favorite pizza. North OC standard for take-out pizza, salads, and Italian. Reliable and unfussy.
  • Blu Fish — Sushi. The drive-through window is the move on a beach day. Sushi, Thai noodles, General Tso’s, and a menu that goes deep.
  • The Original Greene Turtle — Sports bar classic. The flagship location since the 1970s. Wings, burgers, and the game.
  • Lizzie’s— North OC favorite. 20+ years in town, and yes, the lobster rolls are real. They also do the rest of the Maryland seafood lineup.
  • The Crab Bag — Crabs. North OC family-friendly spot with reliably meaty crabs. Bring an apetite!

West Ocean City Restaurants

West OC harbor dining waterfront

Quick take: West OC is the most underrated dining zone in the area. The commercial harbor here is where the fishing boats actually come in, which means fresh seafood. Worth the short drive over the 50 bridge.

  • Shark on the Harbor — Date night. On the commercial harbor with fishing boats unloading right outside. Local, sustainable, and a regularly updated menu.
  • Sunset Grille — Special occasion. Sunset Marina location with bay views, casual menu, and a killer outdoor deck.
  • Harborside Bar & Grill — Casual. Home of the original orange crush and a rustic waterfront vibe. Burgers, seafood, and a deck that fills up at sunset.
  • Sello’s — Date night. Italian done right in West OC. Worth the drive over the bridge for handmade pasta, a thoughtful wine list, and a quieter setting than the bay-facing crowd.

A Few Notes From Our Team

A few things worth knowing before you head out:

  • Reservations matter in summer. Spain Wine Bar, Fager’s, The Hobbit, Oyster & Scales, and Captain’s Table fill up. Book a week or two ahead in peak season. Liquid Assets doesn’t take reservations, so plan to wait at the bar.
  • Happy hour is a real strategy in OC. Many of the destination spots above run happy hour deals. If your goal is to try a higher-end kitchen on a budget, that’s how you do it.
  • Use the OC bus. Coastal Highway service runs the full island and gets you to most of these restaurants for a few dollars.
  • Book direct, save. Every direct booking with Central Reservations comes with our free rewards program, which includes vouchers at some of the best places to eat in town.
